Abdul Monem Limited (AML), one of the largest conglomerates of the country, lost its Founder, Abdul Monem this morning. He was 83.

The company Chairman & Managing Director Abdul Monem breathed his last at around 10:00am while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. He has earlier suffered a stroke on the 17th of May and left many of his admirers in tears today.

The visionary leader was laid to rest beside his mother’s resting place after Maghrib prayers in the evening at the Madrasa Complex that he has built for the underprivileged people in Brahmanbaria. He left behind his wife, two sons, three daughters, and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

Abdul Monem was born on January 5 in 1937 in Brahmanbaria. He was a civil engineer by profession. He established Abdul Monem Limited (AML) in 1956 and successfully ran it along with his two sons – ASM Mainuddin Monem and ASM Mohiuddin Monem — working as the deputy managing directors of the company.

Abdul Monem Limited has not only developed a wealth of experience in infrastructure and development project arena, but also became the bottler of Coca Cola, the producer of ice-cream brand Igloo, Igloo milk and dairy products, Igloo food items and snacks, maker of auto bricks and other selected construction materials. The business entity also established AM Sugar Refinery Ltd, AM Rice Bran Oil, AM Securities and Financial Services Ltd, etc. In 2015, Abdul Monem Limited was awarded for developing one of the first private economic zones of the country Abdul Monem Economic Zone (AMEZ) — in Daudkandi, Munshiganj. He was also awarded with the IFAWPCA Gold Medal by the Asian and Western Pacific Contractors’ Associations in recognition of his excellence in construction performance and his contribution to the development of construction technology and management.

The honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Roads and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman, Law Minister Anisul Huq, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Huq Inu and General Secretary Shirin Akhter among others expressed deep shock and condoled the death of Abdul Monem.

Abdul Monem, one of the greatest entrepreneurs of the country, poured his heart into the people’s welfare and his legacy will live on forever. May his soul rest in peace!

Mr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin Monem, Deputy Managing Director-Abdul Monem Ltd., Honorary Consul of Consulate of the Czech Republic, Dhaka and the Chairman and Co-founder of ServicEngine BPO, has been receiving Export Gold Trophy for Six consecutive years for ServicEngine’s contribution to the “Vision 2021 of Digital Bangladesh”. Mr. ASM Mohiuddin Monem is the younger son of renowned industrialist Mr. Abdul Monem. He also holds the title of CIP (Commercially Important Person).

The Government of Bangladesh has provided number of enterprises with the National Export Trophy for 2016-17 fiscals in recognition of their respective contribution to the country’s export trade. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the trophies and certificates to award winners. The trophies were given in three categories – gold, silver and bronze. There were several important export oriented sectors participating in the event. ServicEngine won the National Export Gold Trophy for its contribution to the country’s export trade in Computer software.

They picked out the hundred top leaders and CEO from all over the world. Igloo, the proud concern of Abdul Monem Limited, received the award as, “World’s Greatest Brand 2018-2019. Igloo Ice cream is crowned as the greatest brand in Dairy Category of FMCG Market. The award ceremony was held on 1st May, 2019 at J. W Marriot Hotel, Dubai. AsiaOne Magazine, is a magazine which featured news under GCC- region, all over the Asia. This year for the fifth time they arranged, “World’s Greatest Brand and Leaders Award.” They took out a survey around the larger part of Asia under 16 category.

Womenday at AML (Small)

We have Celebrated Women-hood in Abdul Monem Ltd in accordance with a Special program on “Women’s Day” which was held at the corporate head office on the 9th March 2019.

Our Honorable Deputy Managing Director- Mr A S M Mohiuddin Monem, Executive Director, Head of Marketing, AGM- Business Development & other high officials were present which made the event more successful and their presence was quite prestigious for us all & their valuable speeches were a cherry on the top. It is quite mentionable that AML is recognized for letting the women grow in their positions and flourishing their way up through leadership of power & taking essential steps for further betterments and developments. All the female employees of the corporate head office including the female senior leadership personnel were excited to join this happy occasion.
